![]() ![]() The dried fruit (raisins or cranberries) and the cashews will become soft with time, but they taste really good "marinated" in the curry mayonnaise. Make this cashew curry chicken salad recipe ahead of time. It's a great dish to make for company since it can be made ahead.I used cranberries instead of raisins because that's all I had. It's a staple in our house and i often throw in a can of chick peas, a head of cauliflower (or some broccoli) to make it a one pot dish. Sorry.I've made this before and thought we liked it. There's a depth to the flavor profile I was shocked to get in only 40 minutes of cooking time. Definitely use the cashews (I used unsalted and toasted them), but pulsed to almost a powder. I then followed the recipe other than cutting back on salt and leaving off the cilantro. This is fabulous! I used a family pack of boneless, skinless chicken thighs to double the recipe and sautéd to about 75% doneness. Definitely a keeper!įabulous recipe that's quick and has a TON of flavor. So tasty! I doubled the recipe, used chicken thigh fillets, but there was ample sauce left over so I would use 2kg next time, or 1.5kg + 1/2kg vegetables. I also thought I had made this and liked it. The rest of my family wasn't in love with it and was a little too spicy for them but I plan on making this again for myself when I get my Indian food craving! Easy to make coming from someone who doesn't do a lot of cooking. I used chicken thighs, 1 can of coconut milk instead of yogurt and added cauliflower and chick peas last 15 minutes of cook time. It tasted great as leftovers several days later. I think this recipe is a good base for adding other flavours, may be will try with garam masala next time. It's good for low carb diets, just add salad, no need to eat it with rice. I liked how easy it was to make this, and it's flavourful and filling. Cooked for about 20 minutes since I was using boneless chunks of chicken. Like a few others, I also used (two) large boneless/skinless chicken breasts cut into cubes. This wasn't my first time making it and our family LOVES it. As well as some others, I used bone-in skin-on thighs and add some chopped tomatoes that were overripe. This was a simple curry with loads of flavour! I used garam masala for my curry powder – I prefer the stronger spices. Have served with rice, cubed potatoes or naan depending on mood -all good! I added chopped spinach in last 5 minutes for added vegetables. I would cut by half and then taste at end and adjust. I forgot in my previous review to say that I have made it with boneless skinless chicken thighs and it also works well. Aside from this, the recipe was followed exactly. Once the chicken was added, it took about 20 minutes to cook. I used 2.5 lbs boneless skinless chicken breasts, 3/4 cup light coconut milk instead of yogurt, 1 tsp salt instead of 2, garam masala curry powder, 2 cups frozen peas & carrots, and lightly salted cashews. This was delicious and my family loved it. Our favourite substitutes are boneless thighs, canned cherry tomatoes and reducing to 1Tbs of the curry powder by blending in other spices like cardamom, turmeric, more cumin and garam masala (though we definitely had a batch with too much garam masala so we go easy on that one) and using a pepper blend like aleppo in place of the cayenne. This is fast becoming a staple because of the flexibility and simplicity of the fundamentals. It all hinges on how much or how little you want to play with the 3 Tbs of curry powder and the style of curry powder you use. ![]()

A sunscreen formula containing both physical and chemical components is suitable for most skin types and ultimately depends on your preference. As a rule of thumb, if you have sensitive skin, stick to a physical sunscreen, and those with oily or acne-prone skin may find that a chemical sunscreen works best. It’s important to note that sometimes chemical sunscreens can cause irritation. These products will often appear slightly white but will blend into the skin completely clear upon application. However, there are clear, mineral sunscreens as well. Because chemical sunscreens don’t contain a physical presence, they can be made into a clear, lightweight formula that doesn’t give off a white cast. When it comes to clear sunscreen, you’ll typically find that the transparent, gel-like consistencies are chemical-based formulas. And then you’ll find that there are sunscreens that contain both physical and chemical components to maximize the sun protection benefits-a two-for-one kind of deal. Chemical sunscreen absorbs UV rays, converts them into heat, and then releases them from the skin. ![]() Physical sunscreen, also known as mineral sunscreen, works by sitting on top of the skin and reflecting UV rays (think: like a mirror). There are two different types of sunscreen: chemical and physical. The only ones I approve of? Formulas with at least SPF 30 (because anything less won’t cut it), broad-spectrum protection (i.e., protection against UVA and UVB rays), and ones that don’t leave behind a chalky white cast. ![]() Nope, not all sunscreens are created equal, and I’m quite picky about which products I slather on my face. But just because I am constantly protecting my face from the sun doesn’t mean I’ll make a case for any ol’ sunscreen out there. ![]() Skin cancer and premature aging (i.e., dark spots, fine lines, uneven skin texture) are not things I mess around with. I’m pretty damn serious about wearing sunscreen. ![]() ![]() ![]() Nearly three weeks ago we announced a goal to administer 1 million doses in five weeks, and so far, we’ve delivered just under 500,000 doses.ĪstraZeneca is a safe and effective vaccine and there are 72,745 Astra Zeneca appointments available across Victoria over the next three weeks. The number of synapses at the neuromuscular junction can decrease because your nervous system "thinks" that you do not need those connections anymore. This decreased neural drive is how your gluteal muscles “forget” how to activate. ![]() If you sit most of the day, the synaptic connections between your nervous system and gluteal muscles will begin to die off. Neuronal connections at the NMJ do not survive if they are not adequately stimulated with novel, and challenging, experiences. Using energy to support synaptic contacts that are not really needed by the body is not something that the nervous system is typically wired to do. Here again, this is because the nervous system is very efficient and economical. ![]() sedentary lifestyle, cast immobilization, etc.), neural connections to that muscle begin to diminish. When a muscle is not used for whatever reason (e.g. Thus, after time, these muscles become susceptible to overuse injuries. helpers) are not built to complete the task of another muscle. As discussed throughout this series, synergist muscles (i.e. However, weak glutes may cause your nervous system to recruit your low back or hamstring muscles to complete the task. For example, when standing up from a chair, your gluteal muscles should activate in order to extend your hips. Regarding gluteal amnesia, when your gluteal muscles are weaker than normal, it can cause you to move your body in ways that are not necessarily natural or functional. This can be very confusing for your nervous system and could result in denervation to certain muscles, while increasing innervation to other muscles (recall, your nervous system will not use energy to maintain pathways that it does not think you need). For example, with dysfunctional movement, prime movers (such as the glutes in certain hip movements) may be slow to activate, while synergists (such as the hamstrings) may incorrectly activate first to complete the movement of the hip. Flawed movement patterns can actually alter the firing order of the muscles in complex movements. posture during movement) can interfere with neuromuscular signaling as well. Conversely, neuromuscular plasticity also suggests that neural connections to the gluteal muscles can improve with the right stimulation, such as exercise and muscle use. If this denervation occurs, it can be challenging to correctly and efficiently activate the gluteal muscles, and it also can stimulate atrophy pathways in the gluteal muscle cells (see part III for more information on this). ![]() lose neural connections) as a result of pain, poor posture, and/or lack of use. In the case of gluteal amnesia, neuroplasticity suggests that the gluteal muscles could become denervated (i.e. Your nervous system is actually quite plastic and is constantly changing to adapt to the stimuli it is experiencing. However, this line of thinking has been disproven repeatedly. Decades ago, the current thinking was that your nervous system was relatively static and would not change. Your synapses, including the NMJ, undergo constant change and remodeling (generally referred to as "neuromuscular plasticity") in response to the demands placed upon it. Conversely, if your nervous system deems certain neural connections to be important, not only will it use energy to maintain those connections, but it will also use energy to increase the number of neural connections present, known as innervation. If neural connections are not needed, the nervous system will not continue to maintain those pathways and connections, causing denervation, or a loss of nerve supply. Your nervous system is also very efficient in the connections it makes to muscles, glands, and other neurons. sedentary lifestyle, stress, alcohol, sleep deprivation, etc.). exercise, learning something new, etc.), whereas fewer neurons are produced in response to "unhealthy" behaviors (e.g. New neurons (and subsequently the connections they make) tend to be produced in response to experiences that are often considered “healthy” (e.g. Your nervous system is quite plastic, meaning that it can, and does, change in response to the input it receives.
